Birthday Boy!

My big boy Austin just turned 5 years old on Saturday!  We had a birthday party right here at our new house for him and a lot of people came to it.  All of the kids had a blast playing in the back yard and daddy did a great job cooking all the food on the grill.  We had yummy ribs, chicken wings, hamburgers and hot dogs.  We also had potato salad made by my lovely mother and baked beans made by my mother in law.  Chips and drinks finished it off! I made a large Captain America cake for Austin and we had ice cream to go with it!  All in all we had a great day and the kids had a blast!  Here are some pics from the party!

On Sunday, Jaxon turned 9 months old!  He is doing so much!  He is crawling like crazy, pulling up and standing up while holding on to furniture and he even lets go and balances for a minute before lowering himself down to the floor!  He says dada and momma and makes other sounds that we can't quite figure out yet but he will get there.  I also weighed him and he is at 25 pounds now!  Such a big boy!  Here is a pic of him at 9 months!

Changes!

I know I haven't posted anything in a while and I do apologize for that!  There have been a lot of changes going on in the past few months.  We moved into our new home with a nice big yard at the end of July!  Then, I spent the month of August getting unpacked and getting the kids registered and ready for school!  Then I spent September getting the kids started in school and adjusting to the new daily routine and also still currently in the middle of doctor's appointments at the Endocrinologist for Houston's growth hormone deficiency all the while dealing with poor Jaxon cutting teeth.  Then, last but not least, I have been setting up Austin's birthday party that we will be having this Saturday (Sept. 29th).

Needless to say I have been a busy momma!  Jaxon is going to be 9 months old on the 30th and still has no teeth yet but I can tell they are giving him quite a fit!  I can't believe that Austin will be 5 years old this Saturday either!  My babies are growing up too fast!  Jaxon is crawling and pulling up and standing up and he is even balancing himself briefly (with no hands) before lowering himself back to the floor!

Houston has a test coming up at the Endocrinologist that is called the hormone stimulation test.  This test will show if the pituitary gland in his brain is working correctly to produce the growth hormones needed to make him grow.  I am a bit nervous about this test as it has to be done while fasting and the test can last up to 5 hours!  They administer 2 different medications.  After the first medication, they will draw his blood every 30 minutes to check the growth hormone levels.  Then they will administer the second medication and repeat the the hormone checks again!  What worries me the most about this is these medications can make Houston sick to his stomach!  He also is supposed to sit still with little excitement and movement during the whole test.  He is only 2 years old so I'm not sure how well things are going to go but all I can do is pray that God gets him and us through it as easily as possible!  With all of that said, here are some pics of our new home and yard!

Some Exciting News!

Today, Jaxon scooted across the floor for the first time!  Daddy got to see him do it.  Mommy missed it but I have been watching him scoot around all day!  I am so excited for him that he has learned something new to keep him busy and entertained for a while!  He doesn't mind staying in the floor for a while now.  I can put him down and he can enjoy himself for a good hour or so!  That is a bit easier on me, I must say.  Sorry this post isn't that long but I just had to share what my baby boy is doing new in his life!

Here is a little clip of Jaxon scooting across the floor.  He hasn't gotten it all figured out so he gets frustrated at times lol.

Prayers Needed!

So I haven't posted in a while and I'm sorry.  Things have gotten pretty busy around here.

We just celebrated Houston's 2nd birthday!  Along with that came the start of multiple doctor's visits!  I took him to the dr on Friday June 29th for his 2 year check up.  The doctor ordered a bunch of tests to be run on him because he is not growing at a normal rate.  He is very small for his age.  We got a phone call back the next monday saying that his growth hormone levels are low.  The next step for him is an Endocrinologist.  He has also been having issues with his fingernails and toenails peeling up from the cuticle and eventually falling off.  For that we have a dermatology appointment on July 31st.  I also have to make an appointment with an orthopedist because his feet turn in just enough for the dr to be concerned about them.  As far as it goes, that is all we have right now for Houston.

That same Friday, June 29th, I took Hayli to the dr for her 6 year check up.  She has what are called Cafe Au Lait spots which look like the usual birth mark.  However, she has well over 16 of them on her body.  During Hayli's first visit to this current pediatrician about a year ago, the dr noticed the spots and immediately became concerned.  These spots are a sign and symptom of a disease called Neurofibromatosis.  This is a disease that causes tumors on the nerves in throughout the body.  It typically attacks the optic nerve first so another symptom is vision impairment.  Hayli, during the second half of her school year started complaining that she couldn't see some words in books because they were too small.  I went and looked up all the other symptoms of this disease and when I saw learning disabilities such as ADD or ADHD are also a symptom, I thought back to the trouble Hayli had in school.  Her teacher was constantly sending home notes saying she needed to stay focused and finish her work on time and not rush through things.  I have also noticed she is having a harder time sitting still and focusing on things at home.  I mentioned all of these things I had noticed in Hayli at her 6 year visit and the doctor referred her to an Opthamologist.  The Opthamologist will be able to look deep into her eyes and see if there are any signs of the disease.

On top of all of these doctors appointments coming up, we have found a house with a nice yard to rent.  We will be moving August 1st and we are so excited!  The kids are excited as well because they know that they will be able to go outside whenever they want and play!  Where as right now in the apartment, they are basically stuck inside because I can't just let them outside alone where I can watch them from the window or the door!  We are so happy to be moving, it is a new start for us.

Please send your prayers for all of these things.  We are definitely needing the prayer and support.

Jaxon is officially 1 month old now!  I can't believe how fast time has gone!  Here is his 1 month home photo!

He is growing up so fast and he is even smiling at me now too!  I have yet to catch a picture of him while he is smiling though.  Every time I try, he stops smiling as soon as I snap the picture.  Anyway, here are some more photos of Jaxon's first month of life!  Enjoy.......
